Choosing a veterinarian for your pet
is about as important as choosing a physician or dentist for
your family. In case of emergencies, it is important to have
a veterinary hospital chosen before you may need it.
Here are some things to look for:
- Get references form your
breeder, family, friends or neighbors
- The veterinarian should belong to credible professional veterinary
associations
(please See our Associations page)
- Schedule a meeting with the staff and tour the facility and
ask any questions you may have
- Evaluate the entire veterinary staff including technicians,
and all support staff as they tend to work closely.
- Find out what their fees are for services, regular check ups,
vaccines and emergency after hour fees.
- Do you require an appointment to bring your pet in?
- Can you call anytime and speak to a veterinarian with questions?
- Are their services available 24 hours in case of emergencies?
- Is the environment and equipment sanitary
- What other services do they offer; such as boarding kennels,
prescriptions, pet supplies and/or grooming?
